Gibson Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill.
- Currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA this season in the triple jump; Dannielle Gibson has been named the Big Ten Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

The senior from Nassau, Bahamas won the triple jump at the Nittany Lion Challenge with a distance of 13.33-meters (43'-9") - No. 2 all-time in indoor school history.

Gibson also recorded a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.82-meters (19-1.25) at the Nittany Lion Challenge.

This is the first Big Ten Indoor Field weekly award of her career.

The last Penn State Indoor Field Athlete of the Week was Lexi Masterson on Jan. 13, 2016.

Gibson shares the honor with Illinois' Kandie Bloch-Jones who finished first in the high jump at the Illini Classic with a mark of 1.84-meters that currently ranks third in the NCAA and ranks second on Illinois' all-time list.

The Nittany Lions travel to Lexington, KY for the Rod McCravy Memorial Jan. 20-21 at the University of Kentucky.
