DUISBURG, Germany - Rising junior midfielder/forward Laura Freigang (Oppenheim, Germany) recently traveled to Duisburg, Germany, to take part in a training camp with the German Under-20 Women's National Team, Jan. 22-25.
This past August, Freigang helped Germany qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with a semifinal finish at the 2017 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship. At the 2017 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship, Freigang played in four matches, tallied three starts, and posted three assists.
During her sophomore season with the Nittany Lions in 2017, Freigang played in 22 matches, made 14 starts, scored nine goals, and recorded one assist. On the year, she scored four game-winning goals, which included three game-winners in overtime. Freigang also recorded the 21st hat trick in program history in Penn State's 7-0 victory over Stony Brook in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 10, 2017.
Freigang's honors in 2017 included: Big Ten All-Tournament Team, Offensive Player of the Big Ten Tournament, two-time TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week honoree, and Academic All-Big Ten.
