UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The popular Penn State Coaches Show featuring James Franklin presented by Pepsi will return Thursday, Sept. 2 live from The Field Burger & Tap from 6-7 p.m. In addition, Penn State Athletics announced additional ways to get behind-the-scenes access to Penn State Football during the 2021 season.
The long-running Penn State Coaches Show featuring James Franklin presented by Pepsi will return to an in-person setting this season and will be hosted at The Field Burger & Tap in State College. The Penn State Coaches Show airs Thursday evenings from 6-7 p.m. and is available on Penn State Sports Network affiliates and LionVision. Additionally, fans will be able to tune into a live stream of "Behind the Mic" during the show on Penn State Athletics' Facebook Page.
Franklin will be the featured guest from Sept. 2 until the end of the football season. The Penn State Coaches Show will include various coaches from other Penn State teams and athletics administrators.
Steve Jones, the radio play-by-play voice of the Nittany Lion football and basketball teams, is host of The Penn State Coaches Show and will be joined by Roger Corey, who hosts the Penn State Sports Network's football pregame Tailgate Show presented by Weis Markets.
On game days, the Penn State Sports Network pregame and postgame shows will air on network affiliates, as well as LionVision, and featuring Jones and Hall of Fame linebacker Jack Ham. The pregame show is presented by the Penn State Bookstore, while the postgame show is presented by the PA Propane Foundation.
The Unrivaled Pregame Show presented by Highmark returns for year two and will air each week (start time will vary each week) on Penn State Football's social media channels. This show will bring unprecedented access and the game day experience into fans' homes by highlighting the traditions and fan experiences which make Penn State the best game experience in the country.
The Unrivaled Postgame Show presented by PSECU, which returns for its third season, recaps the game with coach and student-athlete interviews. The program is available to fans for free on LionVision, Facebook LIVE and Twitter.
Additional virtual initiatives for the 2021 football season include:
- Coach Franklin Weekly Press Conference: Coach Franklin will meet with the media each Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. on game week. Fans can tune in via Facebook Live and LionVision.
- PSECU Game Preview: Catch Coach Franklin's live media availability on Wednesday evening post-practice along with a featured player guest live on Penn State Football's social media platforms.
- Unrivaled Podcast: Unrivaled: The Official Podcast of Penn State Football, returns for its third season with new episodes each Thursday on Apple and Spotify.
- Behind the Mic: The Penn State Sports Network brings fans into the radio booth with Steve Jones and Jack Ham. Watch and listen to Steve and Jack as they broadcast the game. Please note, this video feed does not show the game.
- Unrivaled Field Pass: Field Pass is on Penn State Football's Instagram Live to showcase warmups and game day from field level. Coverage typically starts around an hour before kick.
Penn State's season opener on Sept. 4 at Wisconsin will kick off at noon on FOX. The Nittany Lions will make their return to Beaver Stadium on Sept. 11 vs. Ball State, a 3:30 p.m. ET start on FS1.
