Penn State Women's Tennis Caps Off Second Day Of Play At Northern ITA Regionals

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--The Nittany Lions capped off their second successful day at the Northern ITA Regionals today Oct. 2 hosted by Navy. The Nittany Lions will continue to play Sunday, Oct. 3 beginning with doubles play, followed by singles.  

Doubles  

Sofiya Chekhlystova and Gabby O'Gorman continued their victorious streak with a win (6-1) against Samantha Svendsen and Juleta Honrubia of Delaware. 

Alina Lebedeva and Yvonne Zuffova defeated Margot Pessy and Ana Utrilla Benito of Duquesne in an exciting 6-3 match.  

Danielle Alamo and Deanna Lasorda fought to victory over Isabella Montana and Aliza Askarova of Delaware in a 6-4 match.  

Alexandra Nielsen and Karly Friedland defeated Jessica Assenmacher and Themis Haliou of Townson, 6-0. 

Singles 

Yvonne Zuffova continued her series of tournament singles wins against Sifa Butcher,  

6-0, 7-5.  

Alexandra Nielsen retired due to injury to Ana Torrente of Delaware.  

Alina Lebedeva retired due to injury against Stella Wiesmann of George Washington.  

Karly Friedland fell to Minorka Miranda of Maryland, 6-3, 7-6(2). 

Olivia Ryan battled hard through her match against JoJo Bach of Delaware. However, ultimately fell by a match score of 6-3, 6-1.
