Penn State earns new school record on first day of B1G Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, In. – Penn State's relays clocked a new school record on their first day of the 2022 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Indiana. 

The Nittany Lions' two top ten finishes put them in fifth place with 96 points at the end of the first of four days of the competition. 
 
The Nittany Lions swam for a school record and an NCAA B-cut in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:24.57. The relay contributors were Will Roberson, Daniel Raisanen, Victor Baganha and Jake Houck. 
 
In the 800-free relay, Penn State placed seventh with a time of 6:25.19. Team contributors were Eduardo Moraes, Michael Daly, William Lulek and Lachlan Byrne. They were just four seconds off from making the NCAA B-cut. They beat their 2020-21 Big Ten 800-free time by over two seconds.
 
The men will continue competition on Thursday with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT and finals starting at 5:30 p.m. ET/ 4:30 p.m. CT. All sessions can be streamed on BTN Plus while live stats and results are available here: DAY 2 and on Meet Mobile.
