WINTHROP, Mass.- Three Penn State Nittany Lion women's ice hockey players captured College Hockey America weekly awards on Monday. Josie Bothun was named Goaltender of the Week, Tessa Janecke captured a Rookie of the Week nod and Izzy Heminger was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the fifth weekly honor for Bothun this season. During the two games against Syracuse, she recorded a shutout, GAA of 1.50 and save percentage of .917. She stopped 33-36 shots and played all 120:00 minutes. On the year, Bothun has registered a GAA of 2.04 with a save percentage of .919 and a record of 12-8-1.
Janecke captured her third weekly award this week as she had a five-point weekend with two goals and three assists. She also recorded a +3, +/- rating. On the year, she has recorded 12 goals alongside 10 assists for 22 points.
Heminger secured her second CHA weekly honor as she led all Nittany Lion defensemen in points with a two goal, four assist weekend. She tallied two three-point games each with one goal and two assists. On the year, she has three goals and nine assists for 12 points.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, Dec. 30 when they host LIU. Puck-drop is set for 2 p.m.
