HISTORY

  • Penn State is facing the Orange for the 52nd and 53rd times in program history.
  • Syracuse currently leads the series 31-12-8.
  • The last time the two teams faced each other came on January 20, 2024 where the Nittany Lions defeated the Orange 5-0.

  • Two Penn State players are set to hit 100 career games during the series at Syracuse. 
  • Junior Leah Stecker has played in 99 career games while junior Kendall Butze has played in 98.
  • The two defensemen combined have tallied 32 points, 27 assists, and five goals this season.  

STONEHOUSE GETS FIRST WEEKLY AWARD 

  • Freshman Abby Stonehouse tallied a two-point week on two goals against RIT this past week earning her Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week.
  • She potted a goal in each game of the series, which included a game-winning goal in the Nittany Lions 3-0 shutout win on Friday. 
  • The Blenheim, Ontario native, is currently on a four-game goal and point streak as she has six goals and one assist in her first season as a Nittany Lion. 
  • She sits tied for fifth in the nation in goals among rookies. 

ONE POINT AWAY FROM HISTORY

  • Tessa Janecke, now sits just one point away from becoming the all-time points leader which was held by Natalie Heising with 137. 
  • In Janecke's three seasons at Penn State, she's tallied 55 goals and 82 assists for 137 points. 
  • She sits third on the all-time goals list and first in career assists.
  • Lyndie Lobdell needs just one more point to become the all-time points leader among defensemen at Penn State. 
  • Currently, she and Izzy Heminger share the lead with 80 points.

WATCH LIST

  • The Hockey Commissioners Association named Penn State women’s ice hockey junior goaltender Katie DeSa to the Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year Watch List on Tuesday afternoon. This is DeSa’s first time on the watch list in her career. 
  • This season, DeSa has tallied a record of 16-4-0, goals against average of 1.55, and save percentage of .928. 
  • She’s picked up four shutout wins and is currently on a six-game win streak. She’s earned five Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Goaltender of the Week honors this season and one AHA Goaltender of the Month honor. She currently leads the AHA in GAA and shutouts.
  • The Pawcatuck, Conn. native, also sits second in the nation in wins. She joins only former Nittany Lion goalie Josie Bothun as the only other Penn State goaltender to be named to the watch list in program history.
