EVANSTON, Ill.- The Penn State men's tennis team dropped its match to No. 67 Northwestern. Despite clinching the doubles point, the Nittany Lions fell 4-1.
DOUBLES
At the second spot, Sam Bossem and Nolan Ranger took down Saiprakash Goli and Greyson Casey, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for the Nittany Lions.
Reiya Hattori and Shri Murugesan took Court 3, defeating Vincent Yang and Max Bengtsson, 6-4, in a strong match.
At first doubles, Charl Morgan and Marcus Schoeman dropped their match, 6-4, to Felix Nordby and Chad Miller.
SINGLES
At the top spot, Morgan dropped his match to Goli, 6-3, 6-3. On Court 2, Bossem fell 7-5, 6-2 against Nordby. At the fourth spot, Hattori dropped his match against Bengtsson, 6-2, 6-2. Ranger played in at sixth singles fell 6-2, 6-4 to Yang.
Schoeman played at third singles, clinching a big first set win over Casey, with a score of 7-6, 2-2, and Murugesan was up in a third set 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 against Miller on Court 5 when both matches went unfinished as Northwestern had already clinched the match.
UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions will face No. 27 Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Following the weekend on the road, Penn State will finish their regular season at home against Big Ten opponents Purdue on Friday, Apr. 18 at 10 a.m. and Indiana for Senior Day on Sunday, Apr. 20 at 1 p.m.
