Women’s Tennis’ Ansley Cox Tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Cox took a doubles and singles match against St. Bonaventure on February 15

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Big Ten Conference announced Ansley Cox as the league's Freshman of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.  

Cox went 2-0 in the team’s 7-0 victory against St. Bonaventure across doubles and singles play. In doubles, the Vestavia, Alabama native paired with Jordina Cegarra for a 6-2 win against Sienna Smith and Kelly Barnes on court two. On the singles side, Cox earned a resounding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kashish Bote on court four. 

For the season, Cox owns a 4-0 dual match record in singles in addition to a 5-0 mark in doubles. In the fall, Cox earned four singles and four doubles victories. 

Penn State is back in action on Friday against James Madison at the Indoor Tennis Center. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start. The Nittany Lions will wrap the weekend with another home match against Marshall at noon on Sunday.
