UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Freshmen Kennedy Ring and Christos Gklavas of women’s soccer and men’s tennis, respectively, have each been recognized as the January Student-Athletes of the Month, as announced by the Morgan Academic Center (MAC) and PSU’s academic services staff.
Ring, an East Greenbush, New York, native, is in her second semester here in Happy Valley. In her first season with the Blue & White, Ring appeared in 18 contests accumulating 423 minutes. She is currently on assignment representing the Women's U19 National Soccer Team at their Training Camp in Portugal. The first-year has already tallied a 3.6 GPA in the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
Gklavas, hailing from Athens, Greece, has accumulated a 4-3 record in singles so far this season. He has also tallied four wins so far in his collegiate career in double play. The freshman is in the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and is planning to pursue a SMEAL College of Business major.
The MAC Student-Athletes of the Month (SAOTM) are students who exemplify the PSU values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Community as well as the Athletics values of Tradition, Teamwork, Diversity, Innovation, and Resilience. At least one female and one male student-athlete will be selected each month, and those students must be in good academic standing, demonstrate strong accountability, and be an example of the leadership on campus and in their community. They are nominated and selected by the Penn State academic services staff.
