Kendall Butze Tabbed for AHA Defenseman of the Month

The senior earned her second career player of the month award.

BOSTON – Penn State women’s ice hockey senior Kendall Butze was named Atlantic Hockey America’s Defenseman of the Month by the league on Wednesday afternoon.

This is the first monthly award the senior has won this season and second of her career. She has garnered two defenseman of the week awards this season as well.

In the month of January, Butze led all Nittany Lion defenders in points while sitting third on the team overall with 10. Her seven assists were second on the team in the month. The senior also added three goals and was second on the team in blocked shots at 13.

On the last day of the month, she became the program’s all-time leader in points by a defenseman with 86 currently. Overall, this season she is tied for the team-lead in assists with 21 and sits sixth in points with 25.

Butze and the Nittany Lions are back in action this weekend, traveling to Maryland Heights, Mo. to face Lindenwood in a two-game series. Game one will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday evening and will be streamed on FloHockey.
