UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 14 Penn State Nittany Lions (4-0, 3-0 Big Ten) take on the team’s first ranked foes of the 2026 campaign. The Blue & White first travel to Baton Rouge, La. to face the No. 3 LSU Tigers (4-1-1, 2-1 SEC) at the Maravich Center on Friday, February 6 at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Nittany Lions have a quick turnaround as the program then welcomes the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans (2-4, 1-2 Big Ten) to Rec Hall on Sunday, February 8 at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Penn State secured its fourth straight victory with a win over Rutgers, 196.375-194.575. The Nittany Lions won every event by an average of .450 points and with the smallest point differential coming from the vault, with Penn State winning by .300. Senior Ava Piedrahita won the event title for vault, her second of the year, with a 9.925, her season-high. Dani Latronica scored similarly on bars, a 9.925, to win her second event title of the season for bars. Ashley Maul earned a share of the beam title with a 9.875, tying her career-high and a performance that earned her first event title of the season. Elizabeth Leary and Kalea McElligott each tallied a 9.850 on floor to grab a share of the event title, with Leary finishing the first all-around performance by a Penn State gymnast this season, totaling a 39.050 and earning the all-around title.

NATIONAL RANKINGS

The Nittany Lions are 14th overall in the Road to Nationals rankings, the fourth-highest in the Big Ten. Penn State is inside the top-20 for all four events, with vault and floor at no. 18, beam at no. 14 and bars inside the top-10 at eight in the nation.

Latronica leads Penn State with her uneven bars routine being ranked at 15 in the country, fifth in the Big Ten, and her beam routine is the 15th-best in the Big Ten. Leary’s bars routine ranks as the 13th-highest average in the Big Ten while Alyssa Kramer’s floor is ranked as the 12th-best in the Big Ten. McElligott’s floor routine averages out as the 50th best nationally and ninth best in the Big Ten and Piedrahita’s vault is 43rd in Division I and fifth in the conference.

SERIES HISTORY

The Nittany Lions have a lead in the all-time series against the Tigers, 12-8. The last time the two programs competed against each other was during the 2010 NCAA Regionals that saw Penn State fall to LSU, 196.050-196.400. Penn State leads the Spartans, 23-9, in the all-time series. Despite the all-time record, the Blue & White haven’t beaten Michigan State since 2020.
