Harvey Named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for the Fourth Time

He helped Penn State clinch the EIVA regular season title with two wins over George Mason

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Sean Harvey was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, earning the award for the fourth time this season. The accolade comes after the outside hitter helped the Nittany Lions clinch the conference regular season title with a perfect 12-0 record against league opponents that culminated with two five-set wins over George Mason.

Harvey averaged 4.30 points/set over the two wins, hitting .373 with 3.80 kills, 2.10 digs, and 0.80 blocks/set. He opened the weekend with 20 kills on .357 hitting and added six digs and five blocks in Friday’s win. He followed that with a huge double-double on Saturday, hitting .394 with 18 kills, 15 digs, three blocks, and one ace.

Penn State tallied nine weekly honors from the EIVA this season. In addition to Harvey’s offensive awards, Owen Rose was named the Defensive Player of the Week three times and Ryan Merk earned the same award two times.

The Nittany Lions are set to host the EIVA Tournament as the regular season champion and top seed on Wednesday-Saturday.
