Pitchers/Catchers – AM Session

Position Players – PM Session

Combined Camp – Both Sessions

AM Session – Pitchers/Catchers Skills Development

The Penn State Softball Pitchers/Catchers Skills Development is designed for players who are interested in developing their skills in preparation for playing softball in and beyond high school. Players will have an opportunity to demonstrate their talents under the direct supervision and evaluation of the Penn State coaching staff and current student athletes. Each player will learn the same skills and techniques that the Penn State softball players use to develop their game.  Drills specific to the pitching/catching position along with appropriate movement prep work will be included.  Campers will also be able to learn key movement patterns that exist in great pitching and catching mechanics to help enhance their game.

Pitchers
Focus of camp will be on appropriate movement prep work and various drills to help improve strength, stability, and power as a pitcher.

Note:  Pitchers must bring a catcher who is NOT attending the clinic to catch during the entire camp.

Adult guest catcher - Those adults attending with a pitcher must complete a waiver of liability at final registration to participate.
Minor guest catcher - Those minors attending with a pitcher must complete a Participant Form to participate.  This form must be signed by a parent/guardian and submitted upon arrival at the clinic.  Minor guest catchers must bring their full catching gear.

Catchers
Focus of camp will include various drills to help improve mobility, receiving, glove transfers, and throwing mechanics. Catchers must bring their own equipment (i.e., face mask, chest protector, turf shoes/sneakers, shin guards and glove).

PM Session – Position Player Offensive Skills Development

The Penn State Softball Position Player Offensive Skills Development is designed for players who are interested in developing their skills in preparation for playing softball in and beyond high school. Players will have an opportunity to demonstrate their talents under the direct supervision and evaluation of the Penn State coaching staff and current student athletes. Each player will learn the same skills and techniques that the Penn State softball players use to develop their game on offense and defense.

Drills in the defensive segment will aim to help campers improve their skillset at their designated infield and outfield position. During the offensive portion of camp, campers will have the opportunity to develop their skills as a hitter and base runner. Skill instruction will include specific drills to improve swing mechanics, base running mechanics, along with decision making skills to become a hitter rather than simply a swinger.  A question-and-answer session will be available to campers with current players and staff after skill instruction.

 **Helpful Registration Information**
Sign your athlete up for their primary position to assure that the skill instruction can be tailored to their specific needs. Pitchers and catchers in the first session can return to participate in the PM Session under their secondary position if desired. Campers should be prepared to play the position in which they registered.
