Mark Sherburne has served as Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services since 2000.
Sherburne oversees the Student-Athlete Services Office and serves as a liaison between Intercollegiate Athletics and Admissions, the Registrar??s office, the Bursar??s Office, the Financial Aid office, the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, International Student Services, Risk Management, Housing and Food Services and Judicial Affairs.
He works directly with all 29 varsity athletic teams and is also responsible for overseeing the athletic grant-in-aid process, maintaining official NCAA squad and Big Ten eligibility lists, and University admissions and NCAA Clearinghouse procedures for incoming recruits, both first-year students and transfers. In addition, he serves as the administrator for the Penn State Varsity ??S?? Club and the Football Letterman??s Club.
A native of State College, Sherburne previously worked eight years as an Academic Counselor/Football Support Services Coordinator in the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes. While there, he implemented an online academic progress monitoring system that improved communication between the MASCSA staff and University faculty.
The starting quarterback for State College Area High School??s 1985 conference championship team, Sherburne was a member of the Nittany Lion football team in 1986 and ??87 and was a freshman on the 12-0 National Championship team in ??86. He then turned to baseball and pitched for the Nittany Lions from 1989-91.
Sherburne earned his degree in business logistics in 1991 and a master??s in education in 1993 from Penn State.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame and current Chair of Penn State??s Athletics Council for Diversity and Inclusion.
Mark and his wife, Sue, Assistant Director/Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, reside in State College.
