University Park, Pa. - The third-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team (12-1, 5-0 EIVA) hosts No. 10 Lewis (10-2) and EIVA opponent NJIT (3-7) this weekend at Rec Hall. The Lions and Flyers square off on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. before the Lions face the Highlanders on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the South Gym of Rec Hall, due to a men's gymnastics meet in the main gym at the same time. Previewing Penn State
The Nittany Lions come into the weekend with a 12-1 record after sweeping Saint Francis (30-19, 30-19, 30-24) Wednesday night at Rec Hall. Junior outside hitter Will Price leads the squad with 3.73 kills per game as senior opposite Ryan Sweitzer and junior middle hitter Max Lipsitz both are averaging 3.23 kills per game. Redshirt freshman setter Edgardo Goas directs the offense with 12.72 assists per game as sophomore libero Dennis Del Valle tops the defense with 2.89 digs per game. Lipsitz leads the blocking list with 1.18 blocks per game while senior middle hitter Max Holt chips in 1.15 blocks per game. As a team, Penn State is hitting .405 with 15.57 kills per game, 1.96 service aces per game, 8.63 digs per game and 2.80 blocks per game.

Penn State leads Lewis, 13-7, in a series that began in 1994. The last meeting was a four-game Nittany Lion victory (30-28, 28-30, 30-26, 30-22) on Jan. 11, 2008 at Rec Hall. Penn State has claimed the last five meetings in the series.

Penn State leads NJIT, 26-1, in a series that began in 1977. The last meeting was a three-game Nittany Lion win (30-20, 30-24, 30-22) on March 1, 2008 at Rec Hall.

Penn State remains at home, hosting EIVA-foe George Mason on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions then head west to face No. 8 BYU and No. 6 Long Beach State on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14 at the Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.
