ZIONSVILLE, IN. - The Penn State men's golf team played consistently in Zionsville, IN. today and finished tied for fourth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The Nittany Lions shot a 292 in both the first and second rounds to finish in the top five of the 17-team field (584).

Penn State finished 21 shots back from first-place team, Illinois. Illinois played a solid two rounds of 281-282 (563) to seal their lead with an 11-shot cushion ahead of second place team, Northern Florida. North Florida's premier round of 280 now holds the single-round best score in Wolf Run tournament history.

Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions with his ninth place position heading into tomorrow's final round. Howe shot a two-round 72-70 for even par (142). Scott Langley of Illinois leads the tournament at eight-under par (134). Langley's second-round score of 66 ties Derek Fathauer of Louisville (2006) as the second best single-round score in tournament history.

Senior Kevin Foley (Sommerville, N.J.) shot an even par, 71 in the first round of play and four-over par 75 in the second round. Foley will enter the final round tied for 20. Bridgeville native, Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) shot steadily, firing a two-round 74-73 (147). Junior Tommy McDonagh (Wilton, Conn.) shot a 75 in both rounds, tying for 39.

The lone starting freshman, Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fl.), took the Wolf Run Intercollegiate as his premier college tournament. Marin recovered well from his first round to shoot a 74 in his second round. Marin will tee off tomorrow tied for 72.

Penn State joins the rest of the field tomorrow as they take on 18 holes to wrap up the tournament.
