Macon, Ga. - The third round of the 2009 Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship has been cancelled due to heavy rainfall. The results of the first round in conjunction with the second round will make up the final standings.
Senior Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J) concluded the tournament in a five-way tie for fifth place, carding rounds of 69-72 (141), 3-under-par. Georgia's Russell Henley, ranked 76 in the country, took the individual title with a 10-under-par and rounds of 69-65 (134).
Penn State finished in 14th place, with rounds of 289-300 (596). Ranked 21 in the country, Augusta State took home the Brickyard Championship trophy with a 13-under-par, 563 final score. Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) finished at 5-over-par, after firing two birdies in the second round, finishing at 1-over-par. Howe's two-day scorecard reads 76-73 (149), placing him tied for 47th. Fellow senior, Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) finished at 8-over-par with rounds of 75-77 (152). Freshman Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) concluded tied for 68th after rounds of 76-78 (154). Junior Tommy McDonagh (Wilton, Conn.) improved from his first round score by six strokes, carding rounds of 85-79 (164).
The Nittany Lions head back down south to Memphis, Tenn., for the Memphis Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will take place Oct. 19-20.
