SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The No. 18 Penn State women's gymnastics team struggled in a quad meet with No. 9 Utah, No. 8 Oregon State and No. 21 Southern Utah. The Nittany Lions finished fourth with a 195.700. Utah won the meet with a 196.975, Oregon State took second with a 196.650 and Southern Utah finished third scoring a 196.025.

The Nittany Lions scored a 49.100 on vault, a 48.850 on the uneven bars, a 48.675 on balance beem and 49.075 on floor. Senior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) was Penn State's top finisher in the all-around. She scored a 39.300 in the all-around for fifth place. Freshman Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished ninth with a 38.775, while her classmate Madison Merriam (Gaithersburg, Md.) finished 10th with a 38.375.

Penn State opened the meet on floor with Personett scoring a 9.925 to tie for second place. Senior Allie Southard (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Merriam both scored a 9.800 to tie for 13th, while sophomore Daryl Konsevick (Rutherford, N.J.) ad senior Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) each posted a 9.775 for 17th.

The Nittany Lions moved on to vault for rotation two where Merriam and Musser were Penn State's top finishers tying for fifth with a 9.875. Junior Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) placed 13th with a 9.800, while senior Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) and Personett finished 16th with a 9.775.

Penn State advanced to the uneven bars where Musser scored a 9.925 for second place. Sophomore Natalie Ettl (Waukesha, Wis.) earned a 9.900 to tie for third. Personett and sophomore Alex Stine (Phillipsburg, Pa.) finished eighth and 11th scoring a 9.850 and 9.825, respectively. Rounding out Penn State's top performers on bars was Smith with a 9.350.

The Lions closed out the meet on beam where Musser took top honors with a 9.900. Personett took 11th with a 9.750, Merriam tied for 14th with a 9.700, Southard scored a 9.675 for 16th and Rohrbaugh placed 20th with a 9.650.

The Nittany Lions are back in action on Saturday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall. Penn State hosts Nebraska on Senior Night.
