Rio Verde, Ariz. - Penn State's women's golf team sits in the 16 spot after carding a 319 on the second day of play at the Rio Verde Collegiate. Penn State currently has a 636 after both rounds and is +68 for the tournament. Junior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) led the Nittany Lions team effort Saturday with a 77, while teammate junior Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia), who is playing as an individual recorded a 78.

Michigan leads after the lowest round in tournament history, carding a 578 (+10), while Wolverine Ashley Bauer leads all players with a -6. Arkansas-Little Rock is second with a 593 (+25).

Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) is tops for Penn State through two rounds, recording a 153 (+11), which is tied for 24th. Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Malcolmson, competing as an individual, are both at +17 (159). After her second round 77, Carando has a 160-strike total after the first two rounds and is +18. Freshmen Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.), who is +22 (164), and Jamie Lavin (Deerfield, Ill.), who has a +27 (169), round out the Nittany Lions' team scorers.

Senior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) is also competing as an individual and has a +35 (177) after two rounds.

Penn State continues action tomorrow in Rio Verde, Ariz.
