Covering The Bases With Mario Eramo

April 13, 2010

Junior Mario Eramo was the feature player in the March 31 game program against Kent State. The Houston, Texas native covers a number of bases in this short Q&A. Check back all season long as different Penn State baseball players continue to "cover the bases."

What made you choose Penn State?
ME: I chose Penn State for the beautiful stadium. The coaches are really good guys. It's just a great community, as I saw on my visit.

What's it like to come in as a junior college transfer? New player, but with past collegiate experience?
ME: Being a JuCo guy, I am coming in with experience. There still is a big change from playing every day in junior college, then you get up to the D1 level and you're [not necessarily] playing every day. There are certain limits on practice and stuff. It took a little adjusting there. Other than that, I came in ready to go. JuCo definitely prepared me.

How is the transition to Big Ten Baseball?
ME: I think whether it's Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, you're still playing baseball no matter where you are. The game doesn't change. You just go out and play the game.

How would you describe yourself as a player?
ME: I see myself as a guy who has an opportunity to come here and play multiple positions. Just go out every day, work hard and get ready to play anywhere in the lineup.

What do you like to do outside of baseball?
ME: I love fishing, hanging out with some friends and if there's a beach nearby, go hang out at the beach.
