Big Ten Network to Air Eight Spring Championships in HD

CHICAGO; - May is the month for spring championships, and the Big Ten Network will televise eight Big Ten events in the sports of baseball, rowing, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field. Each of the events will be produced in high definition.

The Big Ten Network is televising nearly 60 Penn State events this year, in addition to coverage of 13 Big Ten Championships and institutional programming. The Nittany Lion baseball team will bring a five-game conference winning streak into this weekend's home series with Iowa, scoring 81 runs in the five wins. All three Penn State-Iowa games will air live on the Big Ten Network: Friday (7:00 p.m.), Saturday (4:00 p.m.) and Sunday (11:00 a.m.).

The Big Ten Network is available in approximately 75 million homes, including 19 of the nation's top 20 markets, via 300 cable and satellite providers.

Broadcast coverage of the spring championships begins at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 9, with the Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament from the campus of the University of Iowa. The Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament, hosted by Indiana, will follow at 7 p.m. ET.

At 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 16, the Big Ten Network will televise the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships, hosted by Wisconsin.

At 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 22, the network will have coverage of the Big Ten Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Indiana University. The Big Ten Men's Golf Championships, hosted by the University of Minnesota, will air at noon ET on Sunday, May 23.

For the second straight year, the Big Ten Network will televise every game of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament live. The event will take place May 26-29, with a game on May 30 if necessary, from Columbus, Ohio. Coverage begins with two opening-round games at noon ET on Wed., May 26.

The Penn State women's track and field team is ranked No. 8 in the nation and has won the last two Big Ten Outdoor Championships, as well as the 2010 conference indoor title and 2009 Big Ten cross country crown.
