Penn State Men's Golf Team in Tenth After Second Round in California

Second Round Results

FAIRFAX, Calif. - After two rounds of play, the Penn State men's golf team sits in tenth place of the 16-team field. The Nittany Lions shot rounds of 280-282 (562) placing them at 2-under par for day one of the tournament. California tops the leader board with rounds of 262-266 (528) giving them a ten-stroke lead over second place San Diego State who has a two round total of 538 (267-271).

Freshman Michael Miller (Brewster, N.Y) leads the Nittany Lions with rounds of 71-67 (138). His second round score of 67 marks a career low in the fourth tournament of his collegiate play. Miller trails the first place tie by nine strokes. California's Ben An and San Diego State's Alex Kang sit tied for first with a two-round total of 129 each.

Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) improved play by three strokes in the second round, posting scores of 71-68 (139). Senior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) tied his career low of 67 in the first round of play. McDonagh will go into the final round of play tied for 34 with a two round total of 141 (67- 74). Sophomore Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) shot 5-over par, carding rounds of 74-73 (147) and placing him tied for 68. Junior John Burke (Bay Village, Ohio) is tied for 72 with a two round total of 148 (71-77).
