Men's Golf Heads to Illini Spring Classic

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The men's golf team will head to Urbana, Ill. to compete in the two-day, 54-hole Illini Spring Classic set to be played at the Stone Creek Golf Club Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will serve as a final tune-up before Big Ten Championships.

The 14-team field will consist of 10 Big Ten teams including Penn State, Illinois, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan, Purdue, Northwestern, Minnesota, Michigan State and Wisconsin in addition to Xavier, Akron, Illinois State, and Creighton.

Competing for Penn State are seniors T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) and Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) and sophomores Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.), Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.) and Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.). The identical lineup is coming off a first-place team finish at the 35th annual Rutherford Intercollegiate that was played April 8-10 at Penn State's Blue Course.

The Illini Spring Classic will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday with a shotgun start.
