CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand - Penn State ability athletics standout Kortney Clemons (Little Rock, Miss.) will take part in his first IPC Athletics World Championships on Saturday.

The Mississippi native will make his debut in the long jump, 100m and 200m dashes.

"This is my first opportunity to line up with the best sprinters in the world and see how I measure up," Clemons, the U.S. Army veteran said to USParalympics.org. "I'm really excited about that and look forward to growing as an athlete as I compete at these world championships."

Over 70 countries will be represented by 1,000 athletes at the event, which begins Saturday and runs through January 30. Clemons is one of 31 U.S. men's athletes to be at the world games.
