Men's Golf in 12th after Day One at Big Ten Championships

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - The Penn State men's golf team is in 12th place after two rounds at the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind. at the Pete Dye Course, shooting a 614 (317-297) on the day.

The freshmen Penn State starters are opening tournament play strong. Freshman JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) is coming off of his tied-for-first place showing at the Rutherford Intercollegiate and is continuing his solid streak, leading the Nittany Lions at the conference championships. Dornes is currently tied-for-26th, shooting a 7-over-par 151 after 36 holes of play. Freshman Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) is two strokes behind Dornes, with his 153 tally on day one.

Sophomore Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) is tied-for-19th overall, marking a 154 total. The senior duo of Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) and Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.) shot a 156 and 163, respectively. DeGol sits tied-for-49th while Woodward is in 60th place overall.
