Day 3 Results

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Despite some early morning fog on the Penn State Blue Course, the Nittany Lion women's golf team concluded the weekend on a high note. PSU shot a final round 296 to finish the tournament with 887 (293,298,296-887) strokes. The third place finish was the highest for Penn State this season.

Junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) continued her climb up the leaderboard posting a third round 72. The junior finished in fourth place. The Pennsylvania native wrapped up the tournament at one over par while recording 217 (72,73,72-217) strokes. Senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) finished in fifth place after posting a third and final round score of 74, equaling two strokes over par. Junior Catherine Herrera (Houston, Texas) finished in a tie for seventh place as she posted a final round 71. Freshman Kendall Allen (Pittsburgh, Pa.) improved her score everyday and compiled a final round 75.

"When you have a team where you know has the skill to win and you don't, there is going to be disappointment," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "I think where we have to practice is to be more aggressive. We need to practice going after the pins a little more to give us more opportunities to birdie more. We need more red numbers if we are going to compete with the best of the best, which I think we can."

Kent State held on to win the tournament as they posted a third round 291 to put them at nine strokes over par for the whole tournament. Jennifer Ha of Kent State beat out her teammate, Josee Doyon and Sandy Wongwaiwate of Yale to win the individual portion with a total score of four strokes under par.

Penn State returns to action in the Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by Eastern Carolina University. The two-day tournament takes place on October 7 and carries through October 8.
