MADISON, Wis., November 30, 2013 - A quintet of seniors have been elected co-captains of the 2013 Penn State football team.
The Nittany Lions' 2013 captains are: linebacker Glenn Carson (Manahawkin, N.J.), center Ty Howle (Wake Forest, N.C.), defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (Johnson City, N.Y.), guard John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.) and fullback Pat Zerbe (West Lawn).
The captains represented Penn State during the coin toss prior to today's regular season finale at Wisconsin. The Nittany Lions have had game captains during the initial 11 games this season.
Seventeen Penn State seniors played their final game vs. the No. 14 Badgers.
Carson, Howle and Urschel had earned their degrees prior to the season, with Urschel, a CoSIDA Academic All-American, having earned a 4.00 grade-point average throughout his career. Zerbe is on schedule to graduate in December and Jones is on schedule to earn his degree in 2014.
