Penn State Coaching Staff To Conduct Football Coaching Clinic April 4-5

March 19, 2014

Head coach James Franklin and his staff will welcome high school and middle school coaches for the Penn State Football Coaching Clinic, set for April 4-5 on the University Park campus.

The clinic will feature two days of lectures and demonstrations by the Nittany Lions' staff, led by Franklin, who was named Penn State's 16th head coach on Jan. 11. The clinic will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, with final registration starting at 3:00 p.m. in Holuba Hall. Franklin, defensive coordinator Bob Shoop and offensive coordinator John Donovan will make presentations to the clinic attendees.

"We are really looking forward to exchanging ideas and concepts with the coaches from Pennsylvania and the region who have been so welcoming to our coaching staff," Franklin said. "This clinic will allow our staff to strengthen current relationships and foster new ones."

A native of Langhorne, Pa., Franklin led Vanderbilt University to unprecedented success the past three years as head coach, including consecutive nine-win seasons and bowl victories the past two years, as well as back-to-back Top 25 finishes, all for the first time in VU history. In his 20th year of coaching, Franklin was a two-time All-PSAC quarterback at East Stroudsburg University.

The 2014 spring clinic will feature breakout sessions and a chalk talk with the Nittany Lions' offensive and defensive coaching staffs. Clinic attendees will have an opportunity to observe a practice on April 5, as the Nittany Lions conclude their third week of spring practice. The Blue-White Game is April 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium to culminate spring drills. There is no admission or parking fee for the Blue-White Game.

The clinic costs $50 per person and includes instruction, clinic materials, Friday's dinner and social and Saturday's lunch.

Penn State also will host several football camp opportunities on the University Park campus this summer for its 40th annual summer football camps. Information and dates for the camps will be announced later this month.

Beaver Stadium seat selections are underway for the 2014 campaign and end April 17. Season ticket renewals can be done online at www.GoPSUsports.com/accountmanager. There again was no increase in season tickets prices for Penn State football for the 2014 season. New season tickets are available by calling 1-800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Penn State announced two new football ticket initiatives earlier this year - the Recent Graduate program and variable pricing for single game public tickets.

- The Recent Graduate program gives Penn State graduates who earned an undergraduate degree from 2010-14 at any campus the opportunity to purchase up to two season tickets for $300 per ticket for the seven-game home schedule this fall. The cost includes a $50 donation to the Nittany Lion Club and is a savings of 35 percent from the regular $460 season ticket price ($360 + $100 NLC donation).

A total of 2,500 seats are available for the Recent Graduate program on a first-come, first-served basis. The seats will be located in the North Upper Deck, in Sections NAU-NLU. Interested recent graduates can call 1-800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

- Penn State is implementing a variable pricing structure for its single game public football tickets during the 2014 season. Single game tickets will go on sale to the general public in July, with tickets being available for as low as $40 for some games.
