CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Penn State men's tennis team continued their doubles success at the ITA Atlantic Regional as senior Michael Reilly (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior Leonard Stakhovsky (Kiev, Ukraine) advanced to the semifinal round with a win on Sunday. The regional is being hosted by the University of Virginia at the Snyder Tennis Center.

After two wins on Saturday, the Penn State duo matched up against Virginia Tech's Aaron Gomez and Florian Nicoud. The fourth overall seed in the bracket, Reilly and Stakhovsky, earned an 8-3 win. They advance to the semifinals where they will face Virginia's Luca Corinteli and Ryan Shane. Monday's semifinal match will begin at approximately 1 p.m.

The other Penn State doubles team competing on Sunday, sophomore Aws Laaribi (Rye, N.Y.) and junior Roman Trkulja (Toronto, Canada) took on Corinteli and Shane, the fifth overall seed. Riding a five-match win streak to start the fall, Laaribi and Trkulja could not keep their run going as they dropped an 8-5 decision.

Penn State also had two members of the team competing in the singles Round of 16 on Sunday.

Sophomore Alex Fennell (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) matched up against Virginia Tech's Amerigo Contini, ranked 14th in the ITA Poll. Fennell picked up two wins on Saturday to earn a shot at the top seed in the tournament. However, Contini claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win.

Senior Tomas Hanzlik (Prague, Czech Republic) met Old Dominion's Carlos Lopez Villa, ranked 42nd in the nation. Hanzlik also won two matches on Saturday, but could not keep his success going as he fell, 6-3, 6-2.

The Nittany Lions combined for 10 singles wins this weekend.
