EUGENE, Ore. -- Behind a personal-best performance Friday night, Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.) advanced to the final of the 800-meter run on day two of the 2015 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.
Loxsom, an alum of Penn State track & field, competes professionally for Brooks Beasts track club and junior Brannon Kidder (Lancaster, Ohio) competed in heat one of the semifinals of the 800-meter run Friday night. The top-four finishers from each semifinal advanced to the final.
In heat one, Loxsom posted a personal-best time of 1 minute, 44.92 seconds to finish first and punch his ticket to the final of the men's 800-meter run on Sunday at 4:57 p.m. (EDT)
Also in heat one, Kidder finished seventh with his time of 1:48.26; overall, Kidder placed 14th.
On the track for the Nittany Lion women, junior Kiah Seymour (Washington, D.C.) finished 18th in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 58.66.
Nittany Lion alum Karlee McQuillen (Johnstown, Pa.) placed sixth in the women's javelin with her toss of 186-3.
Bridget Franek (Hiram, Ohio) competes tomorrow in the final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 4:55 p.m. (EDT)
