July 16, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's gymnastics alum Tony Beck has been named an assistant coach with the program, as announced by head coach Randy Jepson Thursday. Beck's duties with the reigning Big Ten championship Nittany Lions began earlier this week.

"I am very excited to have one of our own, Tony Beck, join our coaching staff," Jepson said. "Over the past two seasons as our volunteer coach, Tony demonstrated that he has all the tools necessary to excel as a coach."

Beck, a native of Catasauqua, Pa., competed for the Nittany Lions from 2010-13. Since graduating from Penn State in 2013, Beck has been serving as a volunteer coach with the Nittany Lions.

"He has shown that he is able contribute greatly to our goal of taking our student-athletes and our team to the highest levels," Jepson added. "I expect Tony to continue to have a profound impact on all aspects of our program."

During his time with the Nittany Lions, Beck competed at the 2010, 2011 and 2013 NCAA Championships. At the 2011 NCAA Championships, Beck finished shy of All-America honors with his ninth-place finish on the pommel horse.
