UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Nittany Lion football team resumes on-field preparations for its 129th season on Thursday when it heads on to the practice field for the start of training camp.
Head coach James Franklin's squad returns 15 starters and 40 letterwinners and opens the season on Sept. 5 at Temple in Lincoln Financial Field. In addition to the first day of practice, the Penn State coaches and players will meet with the media on Thursday for the team's preseason Media Day.

Beginning at 12:45 p.m., GoPSUsports.com will host "2015 Media Day LIVE" with 90 minutes of streaming video interviews featuring a host of coaches and student-athletes from the field in Beaver Stadium. The free stream will begin with Coach Franklin on the GoPSUsports.com set at 12:45 p.m.
Franklin and the coaching staff will schedule the initial two weeks of the 29 allotted preseason practices around the last seven days of classes and final exams for Penn State's second summer academic session. Final exams are Aug.14. The team can begin practicing in full pads during the sixth practice of camp.
A maximum of 105 players at NCAA colleges and universities are permitted to participate in football training camp. Additional players can begin practice with the team on the first day of classes for the fall semester (August 24 at Penn State).
The Nittany Lions return 17 letterwinners on offense, including seven starters and have eight other players with starting experience. The Penn State defense returns 20 letterwinners and seven starters, as well as six more players with starting experience. The Lions also return three letterwinners at specialist positions, including two players with starting experience.
The Nittany Lions open the 2015 campaign on the road against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 5 at 3:30 p.m.
