UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State swimming and diving teams head to Atlanta to open the 2015-16 season with a tri-meet against Georgia Tech and Liberty's women's team in the GT Aquatic Center Friday and a dual meet against Emory Saturday in the Woodruf Physical Education Center. The action is set to start at 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Series
Both the Penn State men's and women's teams earned wins over Georgia Tech early in the 2011-12 season the last time the Nittany Lions visited the GT Aquatic Center. Georgia Tech opened the Lions' 2014-15 season last year visiting Happy Valley, with PSU also prevailing 160.5-137.5 on the men's side and 170-119 on the women's side. The women's team defeated Liberty at the Virginia Tech Challenge last season, 270-74. Liberty does not field a men's team. This will be the first meeting against Emory for both teams.

The Nittany Lions
The Penn State women swam to a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Championships and a seventh-place finish at the Big Ten Championships, while the men placed also placed seventh at Big Tens and were 24th at NCAAs. Alyson Ackman captains with women's team, while Jon Seiferth captains the men's team.

The Opponents
ACC-member Georgia Tech placed sixth on the men's side and 11th on the women's side in the league championship meet. The men also placed 28th at the NCAA Championship meet. The GT Aquatic Center will host the 2015 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

Liberty already opened the 2015-16 season, defeating fellow CCSA opponent Campbell, 171-120, Saturday.

Emory's women's swimming team has won six consecutive NCAA Division III National Chapmionships, while the men's team placed fourth in Division III last season.
