2016-17 Penn State Men's Hockey Schedule (HTML)
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's hockey team finalized its 2016-17 schedule on Monday afternoon with the announcement of at least 12 televised games while also releasing the remaining game times for the entire 34-game schedule excluding the Philadelphia College Hockey Faceoff against Princeton.
The Nittany Lions make an early season premiere on primetime TV as on Saturday, Oct. 22 their contest at Notre Dame (7:05 p.m.) will be broadcast nationally on NBCSN. The Friday night meeting the day prior will also be broadcast on nbcsports.com with a 7:05 p.m. start.
Penn State then welcomes ESPNU to Hockey Valley for the Big Ten Conference opener against Michigan on Thursday, December 1 with a face-off slated for 6:30 p.m.
PSU will alsoappear on television for 9 regular-season contests on the Big Ten Network and BTN2Go beginning with the Jan. 14 contest at home against Michigan State (7:00 p.m.). That is the first of at least five games on BTN.
Both contests at Minnesota this season will see TV time as the Friday, Feb. 3 game will be available on BTN2Go while the series finale the following evening is set for BTN. Both games will start at 8 p.m.
That weekend marks the first of four straight weekends where the Lions will see air time as the following weekend (Feb. 10-11) at Wisconsin will have both games available on BTN2Go with 8 p.m. face-offs each night.
Penn State then returns home for a pair of games with Minnesota on Feb. 17-18 with each contest airing on BTN as Friday's game will start at 6:30 p.m. and the puck drops Saturday at 8 p.m.
PSU is then off to Michigan State on Feb. 24-25 with Friday night's match-up also airing on BTN at 7 p.m. The regular season TV schedule then concludes for the Lions the following weekend as American Sports Network and BTN2Go will pick up the series finale at Wisconsin on Saturday, March 4 at 8 p.m.
The Big Ten Tournament is then set for March 16-18 with all contests being aired nationally on BTN and BTN2Go. This year's tournament will be held at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, the home of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings.
All times and dates are subject to chance and additional televised games may be announced. Penn State will announce its home streaming schedule at a later date. All games, home and away, will have free live audio via GoPSUnow, supported on computers, mobile phones and tablets.
The 2016-17 Nittany Lions kick off their campaign on Oct. 2 as they host Queen's in the International Game before welcoming No. 16 St. Lawrence to Pegula Ice Arena for a pair of games on Oct. 6-7 at 7 p.m.
