ROSEMONT, Ill. - Junior Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.) has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. This is the second weekly honor for Crouse this season and the third of her career.
The No. 16 Nittany Lions (10-2-4, 6-0-3) are coming off a 1-0-1 record last weekend at home against Rutgers and Purdue. Penn State and Rutgers played to a 2-2 double overtime draw on Thursday, Oct. 13, and then Penn State closed out the weekend homestand with a 1-0 win against Purdue on Sunday, Oct. 16.
Over the weekend, Crouse scored one goal in each game, including the game-winner against Purdue, and led the team in shot attempts (nine).
On the year, Crouse leads the Nittany Lions in goals (11) and points (23). She is also tied for the Big Ten lead in goals (11) and game-winning goals (five). Among the nation's leaders, Crouse is tied for eighth in game-winning goals (five) and is tied for 15th in goals scored (11).
In the all-time Penn State rankings, Crouse is 12th in goals scored with 32 and is tied for 15th in points with 74.
Heading into this weekend, the Nittany Lions lead the Big Ten conference with 21 points. Penn State travels to East Lansing, Mich., for a matchup against the Michigan State Spartans Saturday, Oct. 22, at noon.
