March 15, 2017 - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team will travel to East Lansing, Mich. this weekend to take on Michigan State in a Big Ten matchup. Play will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
This conference match follows a week of spring break training for the Nittany Lions, who were in Florida competing against UCF in a College MatchDay event and also participating in the South Florida Tournament.
There are several players that have been beneficial for the blue and white this season in singles play. Two freshmen, Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) and Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada), have posted 7-4 records so far this spring. Senior Marc Collado (Barcelona, Spain) has also been playing great this spring at the No. 5 position, boasting a 6-2 record.
Penn State has played a variety of doubles teams so far this season, with some proving to be very successful. Senior Nika Dolidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) currently holds an undefeated 6-0 doubles record, playing with six different teammates. Sophomore Henry Gordon (New Braunfels, Tx.) has posted a 6-1 record so far, also having paired with six different teammates.
This weekend will open up Big Ten conference play for the Spartans, playing No. 14 Michigan on Friday and the Nittany Lions on Sunday. Michigan State will welcome this weekend's matches with a 10-6 record.
