March 23, 2017 - UNIVERSITY PARK Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team will host three teams this weekend in Happy Valley. The first match will be a Big Ten matchup on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. against Michigan. Following Friday's match will be a double header on Sunday, March 26 against Penn at 12:00 p.m. and NJT at 4:00 p.m.
The Lions are coming home from a strong performance last weekend in East Lansing, Mich. The blue and white defeated the Michigan State Spartans in a 6-1 spectacle that upped the team's record to 9-6 on the season and 1-1 within the conference.
There have been several players so far this season that are a big part of the team's success. Senior Marc Collado (Barcelona, Spain) has been solid in singles competition so far, boasting a 7-2 record. Sophomore Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) has also been strong for the blue and white, posting an 8-4 singles record.
In doubles competition, there are a few stand out players so far this spring. Nika Dolidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) has achieved an outstanding 7-0 record with six different partners. Henry Gordon (New Braunfels, Tx.) also has a stellar doubles record of 6-1 with six partners.
Following this weekend's matches Penn State will get back on the road, facing the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday, March 31 and the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday, April 2.
