Seven Nittany Lions Receive Academic Plaudits

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its inaugural All-American Scholars for the 2016-17 season. The AHCA recognized varsity ice hockey players who averaged a 3.6 GPA and participated in 40% of their school's games during the 2016-17 season. On the inaugural list, a total of 1,229 recipients were named, including seven members of the Penn State women's hockey program.

Laura Bowman, Kelsey Crow, Katie McMillan, Amy Petersen, Kelly Seward, Bella Sutton and Christi Vetter were among the 220 Division I-II student-athletes recognized by the AHCA.

The Nittany Lions open the 2017-18 season on Friday, Sept. 29, against the No. 5 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. (EDT) on Sept. 29 and 4 p.m. (EDT) on Sept. 30 at the AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn.
