PITTSBURGH - The Penn State women's hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision against the Robert Morris Colonials in a College Hockey America (CHA) contest Saturday afternoon inside the RMU Island Sports Center.

Robert Morris (15-6-4, 9-2-3 CHA) and Penn State (6-12-9, 3-6-5 CHA) went back-and-forth early on with three combined goals within the first 9:33 of play.

The Colonials opened the scoring with a power play goal from Amber Rennie at 2:33. Then at 6:02, junior defenseman Kelsey Crow (Minnetonka, Minn.) knotted things up at 1-1 with a power play goal of her own. Robert Morris would take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission on a goal from Jessica Gazzola at 9:33.

During the second period, freshman Shea Nelson (Evanston, Ill.) tallied her second career goal to make it a 2-2 contest at 6:29. With the score tied at 2-2, Jaycee Gebhard captured her ninth goal of the season to give the Colonials a 3-2 lead at the 12:54 mark of the second frame.

Robert Morris added to its lead late in regulation on a short-handed goal from Kirsten Welsh with 3:03 left on the clock to make it 4-2.

In net, senior Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) finished the afternoon with 23 saves, while Elijah Milne-Price recorded 36 saves for Robert Morris.

The Nittany Lions take on the Princeton Tigers for their final non-conference matchup of the 2017-18 regular season at the Pegula Ice Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Puck drop against the Tigers is slated for 5 p.m.
