UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State track & field teams are set to compete in the 2018 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute, one of the largest indoor competition complexes in the world, in Geneva, Ohio starting Friday, February 23.

NCAA QUALIFYING
The Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships will be the final opportunity for the Nittany Lions to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The top-16 individuals and top-12 relays in their respective events will qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Heading into this weekend, Penn State has seven NCAA-qualifying performances.

LEADING THE B1G
According to Track & Field Results and Reporting System (TFRRS), the Nittany Lions have the top performance in six events.
Big Ten event leaders entering the meet include Keianna Albury in the 60-meters (7.37), Terrance Laird in the 200-meters (20.79), Isaiah Harris in the 600-meters (1:16.55) and the 800-meters (1:47.38), Danae Rivers in the 800-meters (2:03.13), and Bryce Williams in the triple jump 53'-3.50" (16.24m).

NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Nittany Lions currently have nine top-20 performances in seven NCAA championship events.

No. 4 - Isaiah Harris - 800-meters
No. 6 - Bryce Williams - Triple Jump
No. 10 - Maddie Holmberg - Pentathlon

No. 18 - Dan Chisena - 400-meters
No. 18 - Danae Rivers - Mile

NO. 14 IN THE NATION

The Penn State women's track & field team is ranked No. 14 in the National Computer Rankings, as released Monday afternoon (Feb. 19) by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The week five rankings feature Penn State as the top-ranked men's team in the Big Ten followed closely by Indiana at No. 15, Ohio State at No. 19, and Michigan at No. 22.

Penn State is also ranked as the top team in the Mid-Atlantic region, a spot they have held all year.

MOVIN' ON UP
The Nittany Lions have set 10 top-five performances in school history during the 2018 indoor season, including three school records.

DEFENDING CHAMPS
The Nittany Lions have three individuals and two relays looking to defend their 2017 Big Ten titles.

Individuals include Xavier Smith in the 60-meters, Isaiah Harris in the men's 800-meters, Danae Rivers in the same event, as well as the men's 4x400-meter relay and the women's DMR.

The women's team also enters the meet looking to defend their 2017 Big Ten title.

LIVE-Stream Coverage

The events can be seen on FloTrack, as well as on FloSports iOS, Roku, and Apple TV 4 apps and on BTN Plus via iOS, Android, and Roku applications.

For the first time, the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships will be aired in its entirety for fans across the globe. Beyond in-depth coverage of the championships, FloTrack will provide athlete rankings, interviews, and breaking news.

Each year, the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships hosts some of the top teams and athletes in the country to compete for and earn conference titles and honors. This year, top schools include Penn State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The 2018 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24.

NEXT TIME OUT
Penn State track & field travels to College Station, Texas, for the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The NCAA meet takes place on the campus of Texas A&M, March 9-10 To qualify for the NCAA meet, the top-16 individuals and top-12 relays are selected.
