UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team travels to Columbus, Ohio, for the second time this season to compete in the program's fourth-straight NCAA Regional May 14-16, at the Ohio State Golf Club.
The 54-hole regional will feature 18 holes of play each day on the 7,455-yard, par 71 Scarlet Course. Each of the three rounds will begin teeing off at 7:30 a.m. ET. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com
"We look forward to competing again at the Scarlet Course this coming week," said Penn State head coach Greg Nye. "A month later into the spring growing season, we will likely see the rough up and a greater premium on hitting fairways. If the rains stay away, the greens will firm up and approach shots will be an excellent test of judgement."
Joining the No. 7-seeded Nittany Lions in the Columbus Regional will be top-seeded Oklahoma State, No. 2 Illinois, No. 3 Texas Tech, No. 4 UNLV, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 6 Northwestern, No. 8 Tennessee, No. 9 Louisville, No. 10 Jacksonville, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 12 Yale, and No. 13 Cleveland State. Four Big Ten Conference teams are in the same regional for the first time since 2011 when Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana were all a part of the Indiana Regional.
Representing the Nittany Lions will be senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) and juniors Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) and JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.). Rounding out the lineup will be sophomores Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and Alec Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.).
A year ago, Penn State finished in fifth place in the NCAA Washington Regional to advance to the national championship. Miller, a junior at the time, became the second Nittany Lion in program history to claim an NCAA Regional title.
