No. 4 Women's Volleyball Sweeps Rutgers

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 4 Penn State women's volleyball team took down Rutgers, 3-0: 25-14, 25-18, 26-24, on Wednesday evening in Rec Hall to move 16-3 on the season, and 7-2 in Big Ten play.

The Nittany Lions were led by redshirt senior Nia Reed and freshman Jonni Parker who both put down double digit kills. Reed led all hitters with 11 kills on .219, while Parker put down 10 kills on a .318 clip. Parker added three digs, a block and an ace to her stat line, while Reed finished with a team-high three blocks and four digs.

Redshirt senior Bryanna Weiskircher dished out 33 assists and added a career-high six kills on a .857 clip. She also added a block and an ace to her night.

Junior Kendall White tied for a game high with 11 digs and moved into ninth place all-time for career digs at Penn State with 1,252.

On the evening, Penn State saw six different players dish out aces for a total of seven as Jenna Hampton tallied two. Bayleigh Hoffman, Taylor Leath, Serena Gray, Weiskircher and Parker each registered one.

Leath added six kills, four digs, two assists and a block on the evening.

Penn State hit .284 for the match, putting down 43 kills, while adding 37 digs.

The Nittany Lions head to Piscataway, New Jersey for their second-straight match against the Scarlet Knights. The two squads will square off at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.
