ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Nittany Lion duo of Kerry Abello and Maddie Nolf garnered Big Ten weekly honors, as announced by the conference office on Thursday, Oct. 25. Abello was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Nolf was tabbed the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
Abello, a sophomore, earns her first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award after netting her first career two-goal game in a 2-0 win over Minnesota on Sunday, Oct. 21. With the victory, Penn State clinched the 2018 Big Ten regular season title outright.
Nolf, a redshirt senior, captures her first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week plaudit after helping the Nittany Lions to a pair of victories. Nolf and the Nittany Lion defense held Indiana and Minnesota to an average of nine shot attempts per game and one combined goal. Offensively, Nolf chipped in an assist in Penn State's 4-1 win over Indiana.
The No. 16 Nittany Lions are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 28, against Michigan in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 Big Ten Tournament. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Jeffrey Field. Admission is free for fans.
