Penn State Men’s Swimming & Diving Opens Double Dual at Virginia Tech

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – A first-place finish in the 1-meter dive by senior Hector Garcia Boissier and a second-place finish by freshman Michael Daly highlighted Penn State men's swimming and diving's opening night in a double dual meet Friday at the Christansburg Aquatic Center.
 
Penn State finished Day 1 trailing host Virginia Tech, 123-43, and No. 10 Ohio State, 114-53.

Nittany Lion Relays
The Nittany Lions relay team had a strong outing this evening. Opening the meet, the team of Will Roberson, Austin Wilson, Matthew Dinunzio, and Gabe Castano finished third in the 200 free relay in 1:22.50.

Top Individual Performances
On the boards, Garcia Boissier won the 1-meter dive, earning a final score of 366.30. The senior diver has won the 1-meter in all three meets so far this season.
 
In the swimming events, Penn State's best performances came in the 200 back, 200 IM and 200 fly with top-four individual finishes. Daly led, finishing second in the 200 back with a time of 1:48.47. Hayden Harlow placed fourth in the 200 IM (1:50.83), while Matt DiNunzio did the same in the 200 fly (1:51.27.
 
Next Up
Penn State will swim tomorrow at 11 a.m. to conclude the two-day meet.
