No. 7 Penn State Sweeps Northwestern

Evanston, Ill. – The No. 7 Penn State women's volleyball team took down Northwestern, 3-0; 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, to get to 20 wins on the season, moving to 20-5, and 11-4 in Big Ten play on Friday evening in New Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Penn State saw freshman Jonni Parker led all hitters with 11 kills, hitting .391, with four digs, two blocks and two aces.

Freshman Kaitlyn Hord, redshirt senior Nia Reed, and graduate student Taylor Leath all chipped in seven kills. Hord finished the match with a 7-0-11 hitting line, adding one block. Leath added six digs, and Reed added three blocks.

Redshirt senior Bryanna Weiskircher dished out 37 assists, adding six digs and four blocks.

Junior libero Kendall White added 16 digs and three assists on the evening.

In the opening set, the Nittany Lions put down 17 kills, hitting .417 as a team. Penn State saw libero Kendall White scoop up eight digs in the opening set to help captain the PSU floor defense. Penn State took the opening set, 25-21.

In the second set, Penn State held Northwestern to just seven kills, and put down 14 of their own to take the set, 25-20.

In the final set, Penn State hit .300, while holding Northwestern to just a .171 hitting percentage.

The Nittany Lions continue their road trip with a top-10 match-up with No. 4 Illinois on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. ET in Huff Hall.
