UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 1 Penn State men's lacrosse team will host No. 20 Rutgers on Saturday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. in the final game of the regular season at Panzer Stadium.
Penn State will honor the eight seniors at roughly 1:30 p.m. on the field before the game.
TICKETS
Ticket prices have been set at $5 for adults and $3 for youth (ages 12 and under). Penn State students will be able to get in for free by showing their Penn State ID. Fans will need separate tickets for both the Penn State women's game at 11 a.m. and the Penn State men's game at 2:30. The ticket office will open 90 minutes before the game. Nittany Lion fans are able to buy their tickets through Penn State Account Manager, 1-800-NITTANY, or by visiting the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office in person Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tickets purchased in advance will utilize mobile ticketing for entry. PARKING
Parking for games played at Panzer Stadium will be available in the Jordan East lot, and while fans can bring bags into the facility, all bags are subject to search. Tailgating should be kept to the areas south of Dauer Drive in the grassy areas, keeping the aisles free for traffic to flow normally.
THE MATCH-UP
Penn State and Rutgers have matched up 66 times with the Scarlet Knights holding a 44-22 advantage.
Then-No. 12 Penn State men's lacrosse team fell, 11-8, to No. 10 Rutgers last year.
The Nittany Lions saw sophomores Mac O'Keefe and Dylan Foulds each record three points in the loss, O'Keefee netting three goals, while Foulds scored a goal and dished out two assists.
O'Keefe finished the game with a game-high six ground balls, and added a caused turnover, while Foulds added two ground balls.
Penn State also saw Kevin Hill find the back of the cage twice, while freshman Brian Townsend and senior Tanner Peck also added goals. Senior Ryan Keenan dished out two assists out of the midfield, while junior Matt Donnelly added one.
The Nittany Lions saw Michael Aronow cause a career-high three turnovers while adding five ground balls. On the backline, sophomore Colby Kneese recorded nine saves.
At the face-off 'x,' sophomore Gerard Arceri continued to battle through, going 8-13, while freshman Jake Glatz had a breakout performance when called upon down the stretch, going a perfect 7-7, adding two ground balls.
WEEK 10 ROUND-UP
The No. 1 Penn State men's lacrosse team took down No. 16 Johns Hopkins, 20-9, on Sunday afternoon to move to 11-1, and 4-0 in Big Ten play to earn a share of the 2019 Big Ten regular season title.
Penn State saw sophomore Jack Kelly, who missed the last two games, come out on fire and recorded a career-best five points on four goals and assist.
Redshirt junior Grant Ament recorded a team-best seven points, scoring a season-best four goals and added three assists.
Redshirt junior Dylan Foulds added a hat trick in less than two minutes in the third quarter. He scored at the 3:51, 3:00, and 2:13 in consecutive offensive possessions. He also added an assist.
Senior Nick Spillane scored two goals and dished out one assist. He added two ground balls. Freshman Jack Traynor added two goal, while Mac O'Keefe tallied two points with a goal and an assist. O'Keefe also added four ground balls and one caused turnover.
The Nittany Lions also saw Nick McEvoy, Seamus Glynn, Chris Sabia and Gerard Arceri all found the back of the cage.
Arceri finished the game with 17 face-off wins on 31 attempts and added 10 ground balls. Redshirt junior Tommy Wright added five ground balls, most coming on wing play.
Penn State saw Sabia scoop up four ground balls and add one caused turnover, while line-mate sophomore Brayden Peck added two caused turnovers. The Nittany Lions third starting defenseman junior Nick Cardile added two ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Nittany Lions got strong play from the defensive middies as well as senior Robby Black added one caused turnover and one ground ball, while McEvoy added two ground balls.
Fellow short stick d-middies Brian Townsend, one caused turnover, and Bobby Burns, one ground balls, added to the impressive performance for the unit. For the LSMs, along with Wright's five ground balls, Kevin fox added one ground ball and one caused turnover.
In the cage, junior Colby Kneese recorded his 11th win of the season with nine save and a .526 save percentage. In just over six minutes of action, senior Trevor Scollins recorded one save.
ACTIVE STREAKS
Redshirt junior Grant Ament has the eighth longest point scoring streak in the nation, recording a point in all 41 of his career games played are 67-128-195.
Junior Mac O'Keefe is on a 19-game goal scoring streak, dating back to March 17, 2018. He has scored 66 goals during that time. His streak is good for 9th in the nation. He is also on a 22-game point streak that started on March 3, 2018 with 71-22-93.
Penn State is tied with Penn for the longest active winning streak at eight consecutive wins.
NCAA STAT RANKINGS
As a team, the Nittany Lions currently rank No. 1 in the nation in six categories. They are the top team in points per game (27.83), scoring margin (7.67), scoring offense (17.50), assists per game (10.33), and shot percentage (.29). They also have the best winning percentage at 11-1 (.917).
Redshirt junior Grant Ament currently leads the nation in assists per game at 5.82. He also leads points per game at 7.36.
Junior Mac O'Keefe is third for goals per game at 3.83.
Sophomore Jack Kelly is sixth in the nation in shooting percentage at .500, freshman TJ Malone is seventh at .478, and redshirt junior Dylan Foulds is eighth at .474.
Junior Gerard Arceri is 13th in the nation in faceoff winning percentage at .625 and fifth in ground balls at 9.67.
