UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Athletics and Penn State men's lacrosse would like to thank Penn State lacrosse alumni Chris and Ashley (Boccio) Hogan for the donation of 100 student tickets to the Nittany Lions' NCAA Semifinal game against Yale at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, May 25 at 2:30 p.m.
"We are extremely excited to provide this opportunity for Penn State students to attend the semifinal game in Philly," Chris and Ashley Hogan said. "We wanted to be able to give students a chance to cheer on and be a part of this exciting time with the lacrosse program and help whiteout the Linc."
Ashley (Boccio) Hogan, DPM, a 2011 Penn State graduate and former Nittany Lion defenseman played in 60 career games, tallied 46 ground balls, 9 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers. Boccio accumulated numerous accolades including IWLCA first-team All-Region (2009), All-ALC second team (2009), ALC Academic Honor Roll (2009), and Academic All-Big Ten (2009, 2010, 2011). Upon graduating from Penn State with her bachelor's degree in science, Ashley went on to graduate from podiatry school at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) in 2015 and graduated from residency at Norwell Long Island Jewish/North Shore Hospital in 2018.
Chris Hogan, a three-year starter at midfield for the Nittany Lions' men's lacrosse team, played in 43 career games, amassing 57 career goals and 14 assists for 71 career points. After a strong freshman campaign, Hogan's sophomore season was cut short due to injury and he was granted a medical redshirt. Hogan returned for his junior season in what would prove to be his strongest statistical year of collegiate lacrosse, leading the team with 29 goals and earning first team All-ECAC honors in 2009. The Wyckoff, New Jersey, native finished his Penn State career with 15 goals and nine assists in his final season, garnering second-team All-CAA recognition.
Chris completed his bachelor's degree in communications arts and sciences, graduating from Penn State in May 2010.
Following his graduation, Hogan used his final year of eligibility as a wide receiver and defensive back for Monmouth University in his home state of New Jersey. Following his fifth year, Hogan had stints on the San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants and Miami Dolphins' practice squads before earning a spot on the Buffalo Bills' active roster on Dec. 18, 2012. Hogan hauled in six touchdown catches in 48 games played for the Bills before signing with the Patriots in 2016.
A versatile receiver who can play outside and, in the slot, Hogan and DeSean Jackson tied for the NFL lead in 2016 with 17.9 yards per reception. Hogan has 194 catches for 2,610 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career. Since 2016, he ranks second in the NFL with 542 postseason receiving yards and is tied for first with four receiving touchdowns.
Hogan won two Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots, and in April 2019, Hogan signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers.
"We are extremely grateful for Chris and Ashley's donation," head coach Jeff Tambroni stated. "We are very proud of their accomplishments and appreciative of their continued support of our program."
From generous donations from other Penn State alumni, the student ticket allotment has increased to 300.
