WINTHROP, Mass. – The Penn State women's hockey team continued its standard of excellence in the classroom with 17 student-athletes being named to the 2018-19 College Hockey America (CHA) All-Academic Team as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
In addition, Kelsey Crow was named one of 14 CHA Student-Athletes of the Year after graduating with a 3.95 cumulative GPA in May with degrees in biology and psychology. She is one of five players in program history to receive the honor, joining teammate Katie McMillan who earned the award a year ago.
To qualify for the CHA All-Academic Team, student-athletes must post a 3.0 GPA or better in all academic semesters during active competition with the team.
The Nittany Lions tied for the second-most representatives on the CHA All-Academic Team, trailing only Robert Morris who had 19 representatives. Mercyhurst and RIT tied with Penn State with 17, while Syracuse and Lindenwood each had 16 student-athletes on the list.
Penn State's 17 student-athletes total is tied for the second-highest number of All-Academic Team honorees in program history, trailing only the 2014-15 team which had 18 representatives.
