UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 8 Penn State women's soccer team continues its road schedule against No. 22 West Virginia on Friday, September 6 before returning home on Sunday, September 8 against James Madison. The Nittany Lions are currently on a three game winning streak.
The Nittany Lions begin the weekend against the No. 22 West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown. This marks the third straight road game for the Nittany Lions. Last weekend, Penn State defeated both Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount for the clean sweep of the first road games of the season. The Nittany Lions defeated Long Beach 3-1 and Loyola Marymount 3-0.

B1G HONORS
Two Penn State women's soccer student-athletes have earned Big Ten weekly honors announced this week. Junior Sam Coffey was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and redshirt freshman Ally Schlegel earned Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors.
Coffey has scored three goals three of her first four games as a Nittany Lion. This is Coffey's first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor. Coffey was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com women's team of the week for her performance last weekend. Schlegel scored against both Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount. Schlegel scored the first goal of a 3-1 win over Long Beach State and the second goal of a 3-0 win over Loyola Marymount. The redshirt freshman has appeared in all four games, making three starts for the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions remain in the top 10 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Penn State is currently ranked No. 8. The Nittany Lions schedule features five teams ranked in the top 25. The schedule includes No. 3 Stanford, No. 5 Virginia, No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 21 Rutgers and No. 22 West Virginia.

Penn State is averaging 3.25 goals per game this season. The Nittany Lions have outscored their opponents 12-1 during their three game winning streak. Juniors Frankie Tagliaferri and Sam Coffey are tied for the team lead with three goals each. Ally Schlegel and Kerry Abello each have two goals for second on the team.
